German Truck Simulator is a simulation game that will allow players to take tours along the autobahns of Germany while completing mission objectives.

Simulation games belong to a very popular genre of video games that give players a variety of unique experiences they might not otherwise be able to enjoy. Some simulation games simulate commonplace fantasies such as living different lives or piloting an airplane. Other simulation games focus in on such absurdly esoteric fantasies that players cannot help but be intrigued by the mere concept. German Truck Simulator is one such game.

This game was designed by the makers of Euro Truck Simulator and is very similar in design, style, and implementation. Essentially, German Truck Simulator puts the player behind the wheels of an impressive number of realistically rendered trucks, such as licensed MAN vehicles, and tasks him or her with various missions transporting a multitude of different loads across the many beautiful cities of Germany.

German Truck Simulator features 18 lavishly designed German cities that are connected by major roads and autobahns. Players will first be introduced to the large map through a short demo. All in all, the demo will take an average player about an hour to complete. There is also a career mode available which offers a much, much longer run through the map. Career mode will give players the best opportunity to really appreciate the large, expansive map but may, at the same time, prove to be entirely too much truck simulation action for casual players, as deliveries realistically take a very long time. This is definitely not a truck simulator for the weak-willed.

The breathtaking German landscape is not the only aspect of the game into which effort was placed. Above all else, German Truck Simulator is a tribute to truck fans. There are very few fantastical elements included in the game, so when players start up German Truck Simulator, they can rest assured that they will be getting a realistic driving experience. When driving on the highways, for example, the mirrors prove to be more than decoration as they quickly become a player's greatest defense against overtaking traffic. The controls are detailed and intuitive enough to be enjoyed by both the aficionado and the novice.

German Truck Simulator, while worth a try if only for the concept alone, has a few drawbacks that may give some players pause. First, while the game play is thoroughly realistic, for some players, the realism quickly becomes synonymous with monotony. The highways feature many obstacles for players to traverse but can become dull the longer they go on. The game features many lush and open landscapes, but while beautiful, this feature can make missions excruciatingly long for some players.

While this game is lacking in some areas, German Truck Simulator is an excellent simulation game overall.
